The Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) is an innovative
program that was developed in 1996 by The City of Toronto to reduce
carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 20%, relative
to 1988 levels, by the year 2005. Ameresco Canada worked closely
with The City of Toronto and was instrumental in the development
of the BBP program. Ameresco Canada is one of the leading energy
management firms to utilize the BBP program and provide clients
with an innovative method of renewing buildings, creating jobs,
making buildings more competitive and improving the environment.
The Better Buildings Partnership involves comprehensive energy
efficiency retrofits and building renewal initiatives for all
public and private sector buildings within the City of Toronto.
Comprehensive building improvements typically consist of various
building renewal measures based on a blend of short- and long-term
payback periods to allow for greater project flexibility.
Ameresco Canada and The Better Buildings Partnership
As an energy management firm within the Better Buildings Partnership
Program, Ameresco Canada works closely with clients to assist
in the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions and thus enhance the environment. First Canadian Place
and the Toronto Dominion Centre project were the program's first
private sector participants, and the Toronto Public Library was
the first public sector addition to the BBP list of clients.
In addition to First Canadian Place, Toronto Dominion Centre and
Toronto Public Library, Ameresco Canada was pleased to introduce
the following clients to the Better Buildings Partnership program:
- Toronto Catholic District School Board
- Toronto City Hall
- Neill Wycik Student Cooperative
- YMCA Of Greater Toronto
Ameresco Canada will continue to work closely with the Better
Buildings Partnership Program and our clients in achieving both
their economic and environmental goals.
